I had the privilege of being sent an advance PDF copy of the Book of Games Volume 2 by Bendik Stang author, and have now completed my reading of this volume in one evening, I'm looking forward to the printed version. The Book of Games Vol. 2 has evolved exponentially with its previous incarnation, which seems very appropriate in Volume 2 has a focus on highly sophisticated maturity that the video game industry as a whole is facing. Even if I am a bit disappointed regarding the lack of coverage regarding the properties of Guild Wars, which is largely due to bias, as I am a casual hardcore Guild Wars player. Now I have my point of view is really negative way, we'll go to the good stuff.
I was extremely impressed by the amount of research that had obviously started the production of Volume 2 as well as new features have been added for individual game listings and ratings. These additions show that the authors have listened to those who took the time to give them feedback on Volume 1, and as such are made part of the gaming community in a way that some authors never achieve, no matter how they may be knowledgeable about their subjects. Another Sidenote is interesting to see another book I am currently looking into a box also in this book. As a journalist Addiction Research heavy, I still consider the usefulness of a publication to be me on my endless quest for knowledge, and The Book of Games Volume 2 has passed the examination with ease. There are many, many sources of reading and education.
While The Book of Games Volume 1 was a handy reference for parents and parents of players, Volume 2 opens fully the video game industry evolves, the development of tournaments and beyond. The authors have managed to put industry in a nutshell – which players, teachers, parents and even grandparents will enjoy. This book has all the components of the video game world between its covers, and looks at all aspects in a well-written, well researched and well presented manner. Each chapter contains evidence of how video games have become an integral part of our life in the 21st century – those who pick up a quick game of solitaire to those who travel the circuit pro-gamer. A photo I could immediately relate was that of Undheim Olav of Norway, winner of the 2007 World Cyber Games Grand Final Tournament Warcraft III. I saw this game, and all other events held that day the last game in Seattle this past October. I was there when that Olav raised $ 20 000. 00 checks over his head at the medal presentation – and that is what the industry called the game has at its core – a vibrant global community – that we feel in our own annual tournament LAN, and one that the book Thurs Volume 2 opened to the world.
I think this book will do more to provide an understanding of the culture of gaming to non-gamers than any other set of websites and articles in the media could do. All parents will benefit from this book, while the players will adopt this book for validation it brings to our video game culture. The Book of Games Volume 2 is an excellent weight-cons who vocalize loudly and their negative view on the gaming industry as a whole. I challenge anyone who does not understand really what the games are really all about to take this book and read it. Understanding what attracts those of us who have the game worlds in our multi-pixelled. The artwork is amazing, the music is incredible and overwhelming passion. As the owner of a company that has tried unsuccessfully for three years to get a business license for a digital media center for youth in our hometown, I would love to see members of our Board of canton oppose us, and those of the licensing department who insist on calling us an arcade, read this book. The Book of Games Volume 2, I think, will become a useful tool for those of us who are not only proud members of the culture of the game, we support up and coming designers of tomorrow and all the possibilities of the world video game was open to them, they become game designers, engineers, architects or even doctors.
I am completely unqualified to give the book Game Volume 2 five stars, and if there have been many improvements in this series only between volumes 1 and 2, I can hardly wait until I ' get a glance Volume 3, which will be out in November 2008. For authors, I say it's a job to be proud of a job well done. "

The 2nd edition of this reference series game is a book Coffeetable fine or go for a quick short extract info on game titles. By all means, this is not a book of thorough examinations, the titles are very briefly discussed (summarized) and classified by type / replay value / Sypnosis conspiracy. If you need full information on game titles, you'd better play on mags or websites. However, it remains a good collector's item that most of your favorite games are included with screenshots Nice color, which makes a beautiful addition to your library of games for all gaming fans. I was very impressed by this 2nd edition because it included some very recent games that I thought did not do so before the release date. The only disappointment is that the 2nd edition in paperback came when my 1st edition was a hardcover.
