PC Games Offer Endless Entertainment
As a way of relaxation and having loads of fun, pc games have evolved into a real industry. Online or offline, from simple flash games to modern wonders, the pc games have attracted an impressive mass of followers that are ready to devour the next achievement.
Nobody would have imagined 15 years ago that one would be able to interact with thousands and thousands of other people online with the means of an online game. That’s what technological evolution has made possible nowadays.
If you were to classify PC games, they would fall into more categories, each with its own distinctive type of playing. Although many of them ultimately need you to defeat the bad guys, the ways to do that are many, varied, and in different environments. You can do that anywhere and anytime, from ancient Rome to epic space battles in the different future.
FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS
They are also commonly called “Shoot ‘em up” because of the manner in which you need to approach the game. You have a 1st person view, meaning that you will see the game environment as you would if you were actually there. You are given many different weapons with which you need to kill the bad guys. Although there are many examples of good first person shooters available out there, the Doom and Quake franchises seem to dominate the market.
REAL TIME STRATEGY
In this type of pc game usually you need to build a strong empire with enough fighting force to overcome the enemy. It has 2 aspects, the battle military aspect and the economical one. Usually you need to harvest resources in order to be able to produce different military units capable of running a war. Common examples of this sort of games include Starcraft and the Warcraft series.
RPG
The abbreviation comes from “role playing game. ” This is a game in which you start on a character that is weak at first and who gains experience as you progress through the game, by battling different monsters. With the help of the experience gained, your character becomes stronger and stronger, able to fight stronger monsters and enemies, and ultimately defeats evil, which is also the purpose of the game.
A relatively recent development of RPGs is the MMORPG (massive multiplayer online RPG), in which thousands of people fight online in a usually immense world in which you can do anything you want: fight monsters, complete quests, fight other players, and of course gain experience all throughout. Although it has not been the first game of this genre, the most acclaimed game of this type is World of Warcraft which has an impressive community worldwide.
There are many other types of games available out there, I just pointed out the most common of them: racing games, sport games, adventure games, action games and many other types of games form an impressive industry that has truly put the pc games in the first line of entertainment over the last decade.

lol this makes me laugh, they are now offering a new membership to me for a SPECIAL PRICE OF £24-99 a £10-00 saving from £34-99. but that will only last until 7th january.I WILL NOT BE TAKING THIS OFFER UP as it’s still a RIP -OFF how can they justify 2 price hikes in such a short space of time.
jbmckean 10:57 pm on January 14, 2010 Permalink
Pogo is a RIP-OFF,they have not introduced a new game in ages yet they have put the subscription upto £27-99 FROM £17-99.i think they feel that they can get away with it since now US british can now win the jackpot prizes WHOOPY DOO, I have been a member for 4 years now and all i have ever won is a stupid wallpaper.

You’re right. Not to mention they introduce a new game more often than other game sites. Look at how far they have come with Club Pogo games since it was first launched in 2003. Again it’s a matter of choice. Especially since they offer free games too. (chuckled at your pun…good one lol)

all of you that are commenting on the price….look a what you are getting!!!! If you went to a store and bought a majonng game for 10 bucks…and then 3 more games…you’d only have four games…on pogo…you really get so much more….including the weekly challenges and minis. At the same token…(get it…lol) the price it is now is getting a little harder to afford. If it goes up again….I may have to reconsider renewing my subscription. boo hoo boo hoo

Also, petitioning doesn’t work. Ask your friends to write individual letters, and emails to EA/Pogo. Make the letters clear and right to the point. Give them something to consider rather than a petition they will toss aside and disregard. Deal with them, not bashing them on the internet. My mom always said, “you get more bees with honey than mustard”. This is my pogo game name, let me know how it goes. Good luck.
tokiemania 2:00 am on January 15, 2010 Permalink
Instead of blasting and petitioning, why don’t you reccomend to EA/Pogo to possibly offer a senior discount? I don’t see where that would be problem for them and something I would definately support. I realize there are many who are on fixed incomes. I’m not cold at heart, I just don’t think the price Pogo charges is outrageous. Please think about my suggestion. Good luck.

Yes, everything IS going up. For seniors on fixed incomes, they do not need this. I realize EA is big but, YES one person can make a difference. So, yes, I will go for it, thank you

The new price will be 39.95. I just paid 34.95 instead of 29.95 too. That was an optional thing for me but for some of my retired friends, pogo isn’t optional but IS a part of their everyday life. Some of them are house bound and it is an access to their friends. To them, it is important. I didn’t begin the petion but I can see their point.

“They got to make moneying some how just like we do. I feel that their work is well earned.”
“It takes a lot of time and engery to grab something deep inside and make it come to reality, and if it was your work , that you work hard on, you would feel differently.”
“Like everyone always says, put your feet in their shoes first, then express your opinions”
“As this is just my opinion… “
Shortfroggy82 3:17 am on January 15, 2010 Permalink
I know your not satisfied with the arrangments POGO has agreed too, but really you can’t find a price for that. Although I agree that with prices going up pogo should offer something maybe something such as gems, or more tokens, with the renewal. Might satisfy some of the customers. As far as Pogo itself, it is their for your enjoyment and it is not a nessacary everyday thing you need in life. Petition more important things in our society that need attention. Not some game site.
Shortfroggy82 3:53 am on January 15, 2010 Permalink
I don’t see how going to 34.95 a year from 29.95. “~$5.00~” At the end of of your subscription is a price hike. Take in consideration for the cost of living is going. Yes, it takes a lot for these games to be made. Material’s, Electricity, PARTS, ETC. Everything is going up? So as far as a price hike I can’t see it…
tokiemania 4:46 am on January 15, 2010 Permalink
One last comment, I don’t think you realize just how big Pogo/EAgames is! If you think you can take down a giant with a pebble……….go for it!!!!!!!!!
tokiemania 4:54 am on January 15, 2010 Permalink
Remember, Club Pogo began in July 2003. I also neglected to include a bonus offer Pogo had,it didn’t last very long however. It was to help generate memberships. It was 19.95 but was only available as a special offer for a limited time. The original cost without discounts or special offers was $29.95.
tokiemania 5:15 am on January 15, 2010 Permalink
Incase you have forgotten, pogo has free games too. It’s all a matter of choice. What you want is something for nothing. Prices increase, for all sorts of reasons. You choose to accept it or find an alternative. Pogo has free games too.
tokiemania 5:25 am on January 15, 2010 Permalink
When I joined Club pogo in 2003, I paid $29.95. If one had an AOL account they received a $10. discount on Club membership their memberhsip was $19.95. Also, I did not assume your business affiliation. I was speaking in general. I too am retired. I live on a budget as well. What you fail to realize is Pogo doesn’t rely on just memberhsips to operate. There are sponsors as well. No defeat there. You can’t change how things are why bother arguing about it? Play the free games.
tokiemania 5:54 am on January 15, 2010 Permalink
Those would be good games to consider. Look at Dice City Rollers, it is similar to Yahtzee. With parnetal monitoring or without chat, the other games would be great for kids. Truely making Pogo a Family site.
violetz56 6:29 am on January 15, 2010 Permalink
Again, I didn’t start the petition. Who are you to assume that I don’t own my own business? I can afford the price hike. I do not think it is fair. I never said I couldn’t pay it. Many of my friends are retirees who are on limited budgets who will choose not to pay either. If many do not pay the increased prices, pogo will defeat its own purpose. In 2003, it was 19.95. Now it will be 39.95. That is not 2 price increases.
There are many sites with “free” games.
tokiemania 7:21 am on January 15, 2010 Permalink
Two price increases at $5.00 each in the past three and some years, is hardly a hike. Yes, the increase is indeed hard on some members, they can also choose the free games. If you have never owned a business you could hardly understand the need for increasing prices. Threats won’t bring the prices down or stop the increases. Have a good day.
tokiemania 8:03 am on January 15, 2010 Permalink
Again I say, play the free games. Pogo will survive as well.
