XP Solution:
go to “run” type “services.msc” there is a service called “Wireless Zero Configuration” right click & select “stop”
DONT NOT “disable” it in “properties” as this will cause your internet to not work after you reset your PC
also try not to use 3rd party software to manage your Wireless Network Adaptor, use the default XP one as i found that using Belkin’s Wireless Network program caused the lag spikes to remain

I did this thing you did and i didnt get any of the lag spikes like over 2000 but i got a Request Timed Out like every 5 pings. So i think that is the problem for me. I will try this tho and see if it works. Im having lag for Combat Arms.
